Overview

I work at the intersection of machine learning and sustainable systems, building practical methods that make computing more energy-efficient and carbon-aware — from the edge to the cloud, and toward 6G networks. My aim is applied, impact-driven research: turning ideas about greener computing into systems that can actually run in production.

My PhD, completed at London South Bank University under the supervision of Professor Tasos Dagiuklas, contributed frameworks for sustainable computing in 6G. That work continues to shape the four themes below.

Research themes

Sustainable and carbon-aware computing

I design methods that let computing systems account for their energy use and carbon footprint, and then act on it — estimating consumption accurately and aligning workloads with cleaner energy. This includes intelligent energy estimation for edge–cloud environments (GreenBytes) and broader work on enhancing sustainability in edge computing. The goal is infrastructure that treats energy and carbon as first-class scheduling signals.

Federated and distributed learning

Training models across many devices without centralising data raises hard problems around heterogeneity and efficiency. My work develops heterogeneity-resilient architectures for federated learning, energy-efficient federated learning for 6G, and multi-global model strategies for edge environments — so distributed learning stays both accurate and sustainable.

Edge–cloud orchestration for 6G

Getting workloads to the right place at the right time is central to efficient, low-latency systems. Building on my early work on the evolution of orchestration towards 5G, I study intelligent orchestration that combines real-time telemetry, carbon monitoring, and optimisation to place and schedule workloads across the edge–cloud continuum.

Digital analytics and societal impact

As a Lecturer in Digital Analytics, I also apply data-driven methods to questions of online behaviour and its social consequences — for example, investigating how young people in the UK are exposed to gambling-related content on platforms such as TikTok.

Background

I hold a PhD in Computer Science from London South Bank University, a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, and an MSc in Software Engineering from City, University of London. I have completed the Advance HE Research Leadership Development Programme.
